Introduction
Ipswich East State School is located in the Ipswich Region of South East Queensland. Established in 1958, Ipswich East State School makes a difference to ensure that together, we can achieve. Through teaching we empower students to be able to experience success in their lives.
Currently the school has a student population of approximately 380 students from Prep to Year 6. The school draws the majority of its students from East Ipswich, North Booval and Basin Pocket. The full range of curriculum areas are well catered for with a special education program also being offered.
The school offers a range of specialist lessons. Children access specialist lessons in Physical Education, Music, and for students in year 5 and 6, German. An Instrumental Program is continually developing within the school with Woodwind, Brass and Percussion being offered.

Chaplaincy and guidance
The school offers support to students and their families in a number of different ways. These include chaplaincy, counselling, family support, and liaison between agencies and families.
Our school chaplain is funded by National School Chaplaincy and Student Welfare Program.
Performance
There are many groups at Ipswich East who perform, within the school as well as to outside audiences. These groups include instrumental, voice and dance.
Languages other than English (LOTE)
Students in Years 5 and 6 are instructed in German.
Extension
Ipswich East State School students are given opportunities to participate in extension days and activities throughout the year such as Days of Excellence, Sporting Events and Workshops.
Learning support
Learning support is offered to students who are in need. Support may be offered individually or in small groups.
Special Education Program
Ipswich East State School is an inclusive school. The skills, knowledge and abilities of all students are catered for, and developed according to each individual student’s needs and goals. Part of the Differentiated Curriculum at Ipswich East State School includes a Special Education Program. This is staffed by special education trained teachers and aides to cater for students with disabilities.
